Nikoletta Nikolenko

Nikoletta Nikolenko is Postdoctoral Clinical Research Associate within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge.

Nikoletta joined Cambridge from the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at University College London Hospitals and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, where she worked as a Senior Clinical Research Associate and before that at  Newcastle University.

Her role focuses on clinical and translational research, helping to translate scientific discoveries into new treatments for people living with rare mitochondrial disorders. Nikoletta is particularly interested in clinical trial development and delivery, biomarkers and outcome measures and in helping to build the evidence needed to bring promising new therapies into clinical trials.

Over the past decade, Nikoletta’s research has focused predominantly on rare inherited neuromuscular disorders, particularly myotonic dystrophy. I have been involved in academic and industry-sponsored research ranging from natural history and biomarker studies to international Phase I–III clinical trials.
